Marti Blum records first career shutout as Western New England rolls past Anna Maria

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper Marti Blum (Huntington Valley, PA) recorded her first career shutout as the Western New England College women's soccer team blanked Anna Maria 3-0 at Suprenant Field Saturday afternoon (Sept. 20) during Homecoming Weekend.

The win gave Western New England College a 2-5 record and 1-1 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Sophomore forward Heather Mortell (Webster, MA) scored in the seventh minute off a corner kick for her fourth goal of the season.

In the second half, freshman midfielder Morgan Vogt (Henniker, NH) notched her first collegiate goal and senior midfielder Molly Chamberlain (New Britain, CT) wrapped up the scoring in the 52nd minute for the Golden Bears with her first goal of the season.

Anna Maria (3-2-3, 0-2 TCCC) senior goalkeeper Karine Almeida (Brockton, MA) stopped 15 shots for the Amcats.

Western New England College out-shot the Amcats, 36-3.
