SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore midfielder Andrea Almeida (Newington, CT) scored on a penalty shot in the 68th minute as Western New England College and Roger Williams battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 17) at Suprenant Field.

The Golden Bears, who are 4-1-1 in their last six outings, now have a 6-7-1 record and 5-4-1 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) compiled 10 saves in a fine showing during the Family & Friends Weekend outing.

Covino, defender Kristen Culver (Westhampton, MA), and midfielder Angela Zguro (East Longmeadow, MA) all were honored before the match during "Senior Day" activities.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead when sophomore forward Laurin Pendleton (Southwick, MA) scored in the 23rd minute with an assist from sophomore forward Katie Fusaro (Hopkinton, MA).

Senior Jen Garside (Londonderry, NH) also played well with 11 saves for the Hawks who are 9-4-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the conference.

WNEC held a 16-12 edge in shots and 6-3 margin in corner kicks. Each squad committed 11 fouls.
