Box Score WENHAM, Mass. - The Western New England College women's lacrosse team scored the last nine goals in posting an 11-7 victory over host Gordon Saturday afternoon (April 18).
This was the fifth consecutive victory for the Golden Bears who raised their record to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Senior Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) led the way with eight goals, an assist, and four draw controls.
Sophomore Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) had the other three scores while sophomore Taryn Lagasse (South Glastonbury, CT) contributed an assist.
Sophomore Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) picked-up nine ground balls and led the defensive effort with seven caused turnovers.
Senior Erin Conn (Yorkown Heights, NY) aided the defensive cause with four ground balls.
Gordon scored three times in the opening 4:12 and led 7-2 before Barbato netted her first goal with 4:14 left in the half to keep the Golden Bears in the game.
Fenton tallied six of her goals in the second stanza (including four straight) and the WNEC defense kept the Lyons off the board in the dramatic comeback.
Freshman Jocie Knus (Kensington, CT) led the hosts with four goals while senior Danielle Zorn (Mercer Island, WA) (daughter of Washington Redskins football coach Jim Zorn) chipped-in with a pair of goals.
Gordon falls to 5-7 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
