Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore attacker
Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) scored seven times on eight shots to lead the Western New England College women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 win over Smith College on Thursday (April 2) at Golden Bear Stadium.
Senior tri-captain
Michelle Thompson (Wilbraham, MA) netted two of her three scores in the first half and also had two assists as the Golden Bears even their record at 4-4.
WNEC led 7-3 at halftime and scored three straight goals in the opening 61 seconds of the second half to break the game open.
Junior tri-captain
Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) scored a pair of goals with an assist while senior
Cougar Moynihan (South Glastonbury, CT) contributed a goal and two assists.
Junior attacker Carolyn Whiting (South Orange, NJ) led the Pioneers with two goals and freshman midfielder Sarah Knowles (North Kingston, RI) had a goal and assist.
Junior goalie Chelsea Henderson (White Plains, NY) finished with 19 saves and Elizabeth Niehoff (Bronxville, NY) had four for Smith (1-5).
