Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. – The Western New England College women's lacrosse team closed out its regular season with a 20-1 victory over Nichols in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game at Vendetti Field Wednesday evening (April 22).
The Golden Bears, who dropped a 14-13 decision at RPI Tuesday night, improved to 10-6 overall and 7-2 in conference games.
Senior Michelle Thompson (Wilbraham, MA) led the way with six goals while sophomore Taryn Lagasse (South Glastonbury, CT) contributed four goals and an assist.
Seniors Cougar Moynihan (South Glastonbury, CT) and Lindsay Fenton (Pelham, MA) each scored twice.
Sophomore Nicole Squadrito (Ellington, CT) chipped-in with three points on a goal and two assists.
Sophomore Marisa Hebert (Saco, ME) pulled in a game high 13 draw controls.
Western New England held a 5-0 lead within the first seven minutes and went on to take a comfortable 13-0 advantage at the break.
The Golden Bears employed three goalies in the contest.
Sophomore Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) earned the win with one save in just under seven minutes before giving way to senior Brie Sylvia (West Tisbury, MA) who stopped three shots in 36 minutes of action.
Sophomore Erin Doherty (Westford, MA) played the final 17 minutes.
Nichols, which received its lone goal from Brittany Tremont (Guilford, CT), falls to 3-9 overall and 0-8 in TCCC action.
Western New England College will host a quarterfinal round game of the conference tournament on Tuesday (April 28).
Pairings will be announced Sunday (April 26).
