SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Joanne Reid (Clarksville, MD) had a goal and assist to lead the Endicott field hockey team to a 7-0 victory over host Western New England College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opener or both squads Saturday (Sept. 12).

The Gulls improve to 3-1 while the Golden Bears remain winless at 0-4.

Sophomore Alexandra Parese (Wilton, CT) gave the visitors an early 1-0 lead just 2:01 into the contest with a rebound shot following a save by freshman Katy Hall (Pawtucket, RI).

Senior Megan McBride (Saugus, MA) fired in a score at the 14:08 mark followed by a penalty stroke shot from Reid just 3:13 later for a 3-0 advantage.

Freshman Melissa Enright (York Beach, ME) collected her first collegiate goal with 7:39 left in the half as Endicott took a 4-0 lead at intermission.

Second-half goals by freshmen Hannah Thornberg (Oakland, ME) (with an assist from Reid), Cassie DeSimone (Reading, MA) on another penalty stroke, and Grace Anne Tomovish (Nantucket, MA) completed the scoring.

Freshman goalie Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, NH) compiled five saves while Hall finished with 10 stops.

Endicott out-shot Western New England College by a 29-9 margin.
