CASTINE, Me. - Senior fullback Jim Bower (South Paris, ME) ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns as Maine Maritime posted a 41-21 victory over visiting Western New England College in a New England Football Conference (NEFC) non-divisional game Saturday (Sept. 19).

Senior quarterback Tyler Angell (Leeds, ME) threw for 150 yards as the Mariners totaled 615 yards in raising their record to 2-1.

WNEC freshman running back Mike Graham (Norwalk, CT) had a big day by rushing for a game-high 169 yards on 11 carries (15.4 avg.) with a touchdown (8 yards). His longest rush was 60 yards.

Graham also had an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that pulled the Golden Bears within 21-14 at the 8:03 mark of the second period. He also caught two passes for 25 yards.

Senior quarterback Justin Walz (Groton, CT) completed 15-of-27 passes for 142 yards, but suffered two interceptions and was sacked three times.

Walz fired a 10-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Kenny Muhlack (Groton, CT) that gave the Golden Bears their only lead at 7-6 with 2:12 left in the opening period. 

Muhlack, who had four receptions for 56 yards, has caught a scoring pass in all three contests this season.

Junior linebacker Justin Bailey (Northborough, MA) had 15 tackles for Western New England College.

The Golden Bears now have a 1-2 record.
