HENNIKER, N.H. - Sophomore midfielder Veronica Kytner (Saint James, NY) scored on a penalty kick with just over four minutes left in the first half to lead the New England College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Western New England College Saturday (Sept. 26).

This was the Pilgrims first win ever over the Golden Bears in the sport and raised their record to 4-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Western New England College (2-6, 1-3 TCCC) out-shot the hosts by a 12-3 margin in the second half, but couldn't get the equalizier.

Senior goalkeeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, NY) finished with seven saves for NEC.

Senior Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) stopped three shots for the Golden Bears who have dropped three contests by a goal this season.
