BOSTON, Mass. – The Western New England College field hockey team used a balanced scoring attack featuring five different goal scorers to cruise past Simmons 5-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday night (Oct. 20).
The Golden Bears improve to 6-10 on the year while Simmons falls to 5-9.

Lindsay Lalonde (Middlebury, VT) opened the scoring at 9:49 with an assist from classmate
Shelby Van Huysen (Killingworth, CT).
Simmons tied the score when sophomore
Brigid Rushe (Belmont, MA) scored at 20:39 on an assist from junior
Katelyn Tighe (Easton, MA).
The Golden Bears took the lead for good as freshman midfielder
Jaynie Mueller (Colorado Springs, CO) notched her fourth goal of the year.
Western New England College pulled away in the second half, scoring two goals in just under two minutes. Senior midfielder

Aimee O'Connell (Rome, NY) netted the goals with assists by Mueller. Senior forward
Kaela Jalbert (Turner, ME) scored the final goal at 60:47.

Kaitlyn Hall (Pawtucket, RI) made six stops to pick up the victory.
The Golden Bears return to action on Saturday (Oct. 23) at 1:00 p.m. against Salve Regina on Senior Day.
