SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward
Elyse Gauvin (Swansea, MA) notched a hat-trick to lead the Western New England College women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Anna Maria in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at Suprenant Field.
The Golden Bears close out the regular season with a 12-7 overall record and a 10-3 mark in conference play. The AMCATS end the year at 0-16-2 (0-12-1 TCCC).
Western New England College jumped out to an early lead when senior midfielder
Shannon Pescatello (Wethersfield, CT) tallied her team-leading eighth goal with just 5:23 off the clock.
Freshman forward
Nina Vital (Ludlow, MA) scored at 11:03 to stretch the lead to 2-0. She now has seven goals on the season.
Gauvin tallied the first goal of her career on a pass from junior midfielder
Krista Gangloff (Newington, CT) that was set-up by a cross from junior forward
Sara McMurray (Enfield, CT) at 24:40.
After taking a 3-0 lead to the half; Gauvin netted her second goal on a feed from junior midfielder
Raquel Lorenzetti (Peabody, MA) in the 59th minute.

Cathy Regan (Monroe, CT) scored in the 76th minute to increase the lead to 5-0 as sophomore midfielder
Maureen Riley (Chicopee, MA) gained the assist.
Gauvin closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 88:49 mark.

Tabitha Ruggeri (Sturbridge, MA) had a great outing making an astonishing 27 saves.
Western New England College clinched a berth in the upcoming TCCC Women's Soccer Championship and will host a quarterfinal match on Saturday (Oct. 30) with the opponent and game to be announced.
