Adrienne Bender's two goals lift Colby-Sawyer past Western New England College

NEW LONDON, N.H.
– Freshman midfielder Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, RI) scored two goals to lift the Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Western New England College on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 9).

The Chargers improve to 4-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The Golden Bears slip to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in TCCC action.

Bender scored the game's first goal in the 26th minute as sophomore midfielder Sarah Lavalle (Newton, MA) and senior defender Liz Williams (Norwell, MA) gained the assists.

Bender provided an insurance goal two minutes into the second half  with her team-high fourth score of the season.

Colby-Sawyer sophomore goalkeeper Shalyn Spencer (Natick, MA) made four saves for her third shutout of the season.

Western New England College freshman goalkeeper Kayla Prout (Holyoke, MA) made one save.

The Golden Bears return to the field on Wednesday (Oct. 13) as they travel to Bristol, RI to take on Roger Williams at 3:30 p.m. in TCCC competition.
