Western New England College falls to Keene State 3-1 in first round of ECAC Tournament

KEENE, N.H.
– Senior midfielder Nora Mahoney (Belchertown, MA) scored two goals as the top-seeded Keene State women's soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over eight-seeded Western New England College in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship on Wednesday evening (Nov. 10).

The Owls improve to 15-8-2 on the year and will advance to hos an ECAC semifinal match with MCLA. The Golden Bears close out their season with a 13-9 record.

Mahoney gave the Owls an early lead with an unassisted goal at the 9:52 mark.

Western New England College leveled the score at 1-1 as freshman forward Nina Vital (Ludlow, MA) tallied her eighth goal of the year.

Keene State took a 2-1 lead as senior forward Katie Bradford (Lebanon, NH) converted on her team-leading 19th goal of the season at 51:36.

Mahoney added an insurance goal in the 70th minute with an assist from junior defender Melissa Dempsey (East Weymouth, MA).

Junior goalkeeper Megan Dempsey (East Weymouth, MA) made three stops to pick up the win.

Western New England College freshman goalkeeper Victoria Trezise (Islip, NY) made 10 saves in the contest.
