CHICOPEE, Mass. - Sophomore guard Brittain Purcelle (Tarrytown, NY) scored a game-high 24 points as the Elms men's basketball team remained unbeaten with a 84-70 victory over Western New England College in a non-league contest Tuesday night (Nov. 30).

The Blazers improved their record to 3-0 while the Golden Bears drop to 0-5.

Senior forward Juan Alverio (Toa Baja, PR) contributed a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Daniel Gonzalez (East Windsor, CT) was the third Elms player in double figures with 16 points.

Western New England College also had three players in double digits led by junior guard Andre Shaw (New York, NY) who fired in 18 points in a reserve role.

Senior forward Brad Thomka (Springfield, MA) added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senior center Conor Lomas (Wilbraham, MA) also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Elms led 50-30 at halftime and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half although the Golden Bears got within 10 points three times.
