ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The Western New England College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to Dickinson (Pa.) in its opening match of the spring season Saturday (March 13) during its annual trip to Florida.

The Red Devils captured all six singles matches in straight sets and dropped only 10 points in capturing the three doubles flights.

Juniors Joelle Nitzberg (W. Windsor, NJ) and Sarah Woodward (Scarsdale, NY) captured the top doubles flight, 8-2. Nitzberg added a straight set win at the number one singles flight (6-2, 6-0) while Woodward claimed the third flight 6-0, 6-3. 

For the Golden Bears, sophomore Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) and freshman Linda Mustafa (Chicopee, MA) played well before coming out on the short end of a 8-6 decision at number three doubles.

Western New England College now has an 11-5 record.
