BRISTOL, R.I. - Senior attacker Annie Alvord (Yorktown, NY) scored two goals, including the game-winner with 13:35 left in the second half, to lead the Roger Williams women's lacrosse team to an 8-7 victory over Western New England College Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 27).

The Hawks raised their record to 12-4 and earned the second seed in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament with a 9-2 mark. The Golden Bears finished the regular season with a 10-7 record and tied for fourth in the conference with an 8-3 ledger.

This was a close game the entire way with the Golden Bears taking their only lead at 2-1 following back-to-back goals by senior midfielder Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) and sophomore attacker Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) within 36 seconds of one another just 2:46 into the contest.

RWU scored four straight times capped by Alvord's first goal for a 5-2 advantage with 17:34 remaining in the opening stanza.

The Golden Bears pulled within 7-5 when sophomore Liz McRoberts (Bourne, MA) fired in a goal with 1:28 left before intermission.

Fenton made it a one-goal game with 21:17 left in the second half and Toomy tied the contest just 33 seconds later. Toomy had a strong performance with three goals and an assist while Fenton netted a pair of goals with an assist.

Junior defender Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) had six ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Junior goalie Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) compiled five saves.

Roger Williams received two goals and an assist from junior attacker Claire Halliday (Trenton, NJ) and two goals from senior midfielder Jessie Alden (Cataumet, MA). Sophomore midfielder Danica Delia (Norwalk, CT) contributed a goal and assist. Senior goalie Amanda Magee (Columbus, NJ) had 10 stops.
