Kristen Micho (Syracuse, NY) scored five goals and sophomore midfielder
Morgan DeShaw (Danville, NH) added three scores as the top-seeded Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated fourth-seeded Western New England College 19-10 in a semifinal round game of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament Wednesday night (May 5).
The Gulls (15-4) will host second-seeded Roger Williams (a 13-12 winner in double overtime over third-seeded University of New England) on Saturday (May 8) in the championship game.
The Golden Bears (11-9) did a nice job against their highly-regarded rivals trailing by only 9-5 at halftime.
Freshman midfielder
Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, NY) and junior attacker
Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) each fired-in goals around a score by freshman midfielder
Holly Davis (Guilford, CT) to cut the margin to 10-7 with 21:46 remaining in the game. Davis finished with three goals coming off the bench. Micho and DeShaw each added an assist.
Endicott then reeled-off five consecutive goals (including two each by Micho and DeShaw) for a commanding 15-7 advantage with just under nine minutes left.
Doyle led Western New England College with four goals while Barbato contributed three goals and two assists. Senior midfielder
Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) was held to only one goal, but picked-up a game high six ground balls.
Junior attacker
Marisa Hebert (Saco, ME) had a string performance with 19 draw controls. Junior goalie
Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) compiled 10 saves.
Endicott sophomore
Leah Neff (South Berwick, ME) also stopped 10 shots. Junior midfielder
Kellie Cunningham (Derry, NH) chipped-in with two goals.
Western New England College is under consideration for an invitation to the ECAC Division III New England Tournament. Teams and pairings are expected to be announced on Monday (May 10).
