SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior midfielder Shannon Pescatello (Wethersfield, CT) netted a pair of goals as the Western New England College women's soccer team blanked New England College 4-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opener for both squads Saturday (Sept. 11).

WNEC tallied three of its four goals off of corner kicks, two by Pescatello, and the third by junior forward Sara McMurray (Enfield, CT) who also recorded a pair of assists.

The Golden Bears' attack was relentless, putting a total of 22 shots on goal. Junior midfielder Jacqueline Dawson (Maynard, MA) scored in the 84th minute for the final goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Trezise (Islip, NY) stopped two shots for her first collegiate shutout.

New England College freshman goalkeeper Erin Palma (Saratoga Springs, NY) was outstanding compiling 18 saves.

Western New England College improves its record to 2-3 while the Pilgrims remain winless at 0-4-1.

The Golden Bears will travel to Newburgh, NY to take on the Knights of Mt. St. Mary's on Wednesday (Sept. 15) at 6:00 p.m.
