SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Castleton field hockey team defeated Western New England College 4-0 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 12) at Golden Bear Stadium.

Senior midfielder Sarah Flore (Springfield, VT) led the Spartans with a pair of goals while sophomore forward Kealy Chipman (Bellows Falls, VT) contributed a goal and two assists.

Freshman forward Alisha Robert (Grafton, NH) notched her first collegiate goal to open up the scoring just 7:21 into the game.

Junior goalie Bridget Dusha (Greenwich, NY) played the second half and compiled 14 saves for the visitors.

Western New England College freshman goalkeeper Brittany O'Brien (Carver, MA) did a nice job with 26 saves in her collegiate debut.

The Spartans improve to 3-1 on the year, while the Golden Bears fall to 1-3.

Western New England College returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 14) with a non-league contest at WPI. Game time is 4:30 pm.
