Keene State defeats Western New England College in non-conference match

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Keene State men's soccer team edged Western New England College with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 15) in a non-conference contest at Suprenant Field.

Sophomore midfielder Sean Fortier (Alstead, NH) scored the opening goal for the Owls in the 25th minute on a free kick from 25 yards out. The goal was Fortier's first of the season.

Freshman forward/midfielder Bryce Lawlor (Naugatuck, CT) added an insurance goal in the 76th minute with an assist from fellow freshman forward Scott Douglas (East Greenwich, RI).

Keene State sophomore goalkeeper Nick Allman (Newburyport, MA) earned his first victory of the season, making seven saves in the shutout. 

Western New England College freshman goalie Domenic Villano (Bronxville, NY) also made seven saves on the afternoon.

The win lifts the Owls' record to 4-2, while the Golden Bears fall to 2-3-1.

Western New England College returns to the field on Saturday (Sept. 18) at 11:00 a.m. to take on The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opponent Endicott at Suprenant Field.
