MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Senior midfielder Alex Dos Santos (Ludlow, MA) scored the game-winning goal for the Golden Bears in the 89th minute to seal a 3-2 victory over #23 Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 19) in a battle of last year's NCAA Division III Tournament participants.

Dos Santos converted on a free kick from 20 yards out to complete the comeback for Western New England College, who trailed 2-0 in the match.

Wesleyan jumped out to an early lead thanks to a WNEC own goal just six minutes in, and added a second goal seven minutes later on a header from sophomore Rory O'Neill (Silver Spring, MD). Junior Steve Paresi (Armonk, NY) had the assist.

Western New England College would answer in the 26th minute, as freshman forward Andrew Rose (Farmington, CT) found the back of the net on a feed from junior midfielder Corey Howard (Hopedale, MA).

Freshman forward Ryan Williams (Brewster, NY) tied the contest with under a minute remaining in the first half. Junior forward John Rusin (Chicopee, MA) picked up the assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Domenick Villano (Bronxville, NY) made four saves to improve his record to 4-1-1.

Wesleyan sophomore goalkeeper Adam Purdy (Montclair, NJ) registered three saves.

The Golden Bears improve their record to 4-3-1, while the Cardinals fall to 2-2 overall.
