SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Stephanie Pascual (Lawrence, MA) had the game-winning goal as the Mount Holyoke field hockey team posted a 1-0 victory over Western New England College Tuesday evening (Sept. 21).

The Lyons raised their record to 4-1 while the Golden Bears slipped to 3-4.

The deciding goal came with 3:50 left in the opening half when Pascual fired in a shot from the left side that hit a WNEC defender's stick and went into the net. Junior Shara Robertson (KwaZulu Natal, South Africa) received the assist.

Mount Holyoke had a 24-5 advantage in shots (13-1 on penalty corners), but Western New England College kept the game close thanks to a terrific performance by freshman goalie Brittney O'Brien (Carver, MA) who compiled 13 saves.

One of those stops came with 28:58 left in the contest when O'Brien turned away a penalty shot by Robertson.
