SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior forward Brittany Collins (Vernon, CT) netted the game-winning goal in dramatic fashion to lift the visiting Springfield College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over city-rival Western New England College on Wednesday afternoon. 

Collins' delivered the winning shot in the 89th minute, as she placed a shot off the crossbar for the Pride. 

Springfield sophomore goalkeeper Erin Greenstein (Framingham, MA) made six stops for the shutout.

Senior midfielder Shannon Pescatello (Wethersfield, CT) and freshman forward Nina Vital (Ludlow, MA) each had four shot attempts for the Golden Bears.

WNEC freshman goalkeeper Victoria Trezise (Islip, NY) had a solid collegiate debut, turning away seven shots.

Springfield improves to 2-1 on the season, while the loss drops Western New England to 1-3 on the campaign. 

The Golden Bears next contest is on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., as they begin conference play by hosting New England College.
