SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward
Lauren Francisco (Ludlow, MA) scored a pair of early goals and added an assist to lead Western Connecticut to a 4-0 victory over Western New England on Thursday (Oct. 20) in a non-conference match at Suprenant Field.
Francisco tallied the first goal at 12:45 on an assist from sophomore forward
Ariana D'Aurio (Cheshire, CT); and quickly added her second of the game 34 seconds later on a feed from freshman midfielder
Ashley Hutkowski (Long Valley, NJ) to put the Colonials up 2-0.
WestConn added another goal just one minute later as freshman forward
Emily Burke (Windsor Locks, CT) scored on an assist from D'Aurio.
After taking a 3-0 advantage into the half; the Colonials added an insurance tally at 71:47 from freshman forward
Sarah Menta (Newington, CT) as Francisco picked up the assist.
The Golden Bears had their best opportunity in the early going as senior forward
Sara McMurray (Enfield, CT) blasted a free kick just outside the post in the 2
nd minute of play.
WestConn dominated possession throughout; holding a 16-3 advantage in shots with a 6-1 edge in shots on frame.

Jamie Trayer (Oakville, CT) made one save to preserve the shutout in net.

Kayla Prout (Holyoke, MA) made a pair of stops before giving way to freshman
Kayley Ackley (Groton, CT) who made her collegiate debut in the contest.
The Golden Bears return to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday (Oct. 22), hosting Wentworth at 1:30 p.m. The Colonials will travel to UMass-Boston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
