SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior midfielder
Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY) headed home the game-winning goal to lead top-seeded Western New England to a 1-0 victory over the eighth seeded University of New England in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinals on Saturday (Oct. 29) at snowy Suprenant Field.
Fitzpatrick put the home side in front at 68:22 as he sent a powerful header to the right corner off a beautiful cross from junior midfielder

Fitzpatrick leads WNE with eight goals on the year.
The Golden Bears had numerous chances to pull ahead, but UNE freshman goalkeeper
Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario) made several crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
Western New England held a dominant 21-4 advantage in shots, including a 13-2 edge in shots on target. The Golden Bears also had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Kyle McGlone (Peabody, MA) sent a low shot to the bottom left corner on a breakaway but sophomore goalkeeper
Domenick Villano (Bronxville, NY) had it covered as he touched the ball outside the post.
Villano turned away two shots to earn the shutout win in net.
McParland recorded a total of 12 saves in the contest.
Western New England (16-3-1) will host #5 Roger Williams on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at 1:00 p.m. in the CCC semifinals.
