Western New England falls to Endicott 5-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play

BEVERLY, Mass. – Freshman midfielder Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, ME) recorded three goals to lead Endicott to a 5-1 win over Western New England on Saturday (Oct. 8) afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
 
Sawchuck wasted little time putting the Gulls in front as she tallied her first goal at 1:39, and quickly added her second of the day just under a minute later.
 
Freshman midfielder Elizabeth LeClair (Wilton, ME) gave Endicott a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime as she scored in the 27th minute.
 
Junior midfielder Taylor Matties (Saratoga Springs, NY) stretched the Gulls lead to 4-0 at 36:36. Matties also added three assists on the day.
 
Sawchuck added her third goal of the afternoon at 61:18.
 
Western New England freshman forward Whitney Fraleigh (Poughkeepsie, NY) scored an unassisted goal at 69:15 to put the visitors on the board.
 
Endicott junior goalkeeper Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, NH) made seven saves to earn the win in net.
 
WNE junior goalie Kaitlyn Hall (Providence, RI) recorded 12 saves in the loss.
 
The Gulls improve to 4-7 (3-1 CCC); while the Golden Bears slip to 4-9 (2-2 CCC).
 
Western New England returns to action on Monday (Oct. 10) at 4:00 p.m. to host the University of New England in a CCC contest.
