BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior midfielder
Micaela Hogan (Salisbury, MA) picked a great time to score her first goal of the season firing in the game-winner in the 64th minute to lead fourth-seeded Endicott to a 1-0 victory over eight-seeded Western New England in a semifinal round match of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Soccer Championship Wednesday (Nov. 2).
Junior defender
Caitlin Peters (Salem, NH) earned the assist for the Gulls who improved their record to 12-7.
Western New England finished its season with a 4-14-3 record.
Both sides battled to a draw through the opening half before Hogan was able to knock in the winning shot at the 63:45 mark.
Endicott, who defeated the Golden Bears 2-0 back on September 10 in Beverly, had a commanding advantage in both shots (20-2) and corner kicks (10-1).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Victoria Trezise (Islip, NY) compiled four saves, including two outstanding diving stops. Freshman back
Gabrielle Bates (Wilbraham, MA) also prevented a goal with a defensive save in the opening half. Sophomore
Natalie Wyrsch (Dover, NH) needed to make only one stop for the hosts.
Western New England reached the semifinals after advancing on penalty kicks (4-2) at top-seeded University of New England after playing to a 1-1 after 120 minutes last Saturday (Oct. 29).
Endicott defeated Gordon 1-0 in its quarterfinal round match and now has five straight shutouts against its conference opponents.
EC will advance to the Championship final at either second-seeded Roger Williams of third-seeded Salve Regina on Saturday (Nov. 5).
