BIDDEFORD, Me. -- Senior Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) and junior Liz McRoberts (Bourne, MA) each scored three goals to lead the Western New England College women's lacrosse team to a 17-1 victory over the University of New England Saturday afternoon (Mar. 26) at the Big Blue Turf.

Barbato also added an assist for the Golden Bears who improved to 2-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) and 4-3 overall. The Nor'easters remained winless in the conference at 0-4 after suffering their sixth loss in seven outings.

Junior Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) contributed two goals and two assists while freshmen Kelsey Daniels (South Windsor, CT) and Kelsey Sherman (Buchanan, NY) each had two goals and an assist. Senior Nicole Squadrito (Ellington, CT) also scored twice.

McRoberts compiled a game-high seven draw controls while senior Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) picked-up five ground balls. and had four caused turnovers.

Senior goalie Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) earned the win with 10 saves in 49 minutes 29 seconds of action. playing time.

Western New England scored the first seven goals of the game and led 9-1 at halftime.

Senior Danielle Cate (Boscawen, NH) scored the only goal of the game for the Nor'easters who were out-shot by a 34-18 margin. Freshman goalie Samantha St. Pierre (Mechanic Falls, ME) registered 10 stops and five ground balls for Big Blue.
