Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) combined for 10 goals as the Western New England women's lacrosse team defeated Curry 14-9 in key outing in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Saturday night (Apr. 16).
Daniels fired-in six goals while Barbato added four goals and an assist in the showdown between two of the top squads in the conference.
This was the third straight win for the Golden Bears who are now 11-4 overall and second at 8-1 in TCCC play. The Colonels slip to third in the league at 7-2 and are now 12-3 overall after dropping their second straight contest.
Western New England took a 10-6 lead at halftime and went ahead 12-7 when Daniels scored a pair of goals in 33 seconds with just 22 minutes remaining in the game. She netted her final to give the Blue and Gold a 14-8 advantage with 5:02 left in the contest.
The Golden Bears' defense did its part limiting high-scoring senior attacker
Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, MA) to only two goals and an assist. She has a NCAA Division III record 448 career points and leads the conference with 107 points this season.
