BEVERLY, Mass. – The second-seeded Western New England softball team advanced to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Championship game with a 7-4 win over the fourth-seeded University of New England. The Golden Bears then fell to top-seeded Endicott 7-2 in the conference final.

The Golden Bears opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the second inning as senior third baseman
Angela Monaco (Monroe, CT) singled to left center field to drive home
Jeana Longo (Schenectady, NY) from second base.

Elyse Gauvin (Swansea, MA) then scored as Monaco advanced to second.
Western New England exploded for five runs on five hits and an error to go up 7-0.
Monaco drove in two runs, as she went 2-for-3 with three RBI's to lead the way in game one.

Laura Madiao (Paxton, MA) each had RBI singles in the inning.
The Nor'easters battled back to make things interesting with three runs in the seventh on a three-run homer by junior

Mantelli drove in all four runs for UNE, going 2-for-3 on the day.

Sarah Lempicki (Plantsville, CT) went the distance to earn the win, striking out four while allowing eight hits.

The Gulls grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run double by sophomore catcher
Krista Fales (Melrose, MA).
Western New England picked up a run in the fourth as freshman
Katie Eckert (Lee, MA) scored on an RBI single by Gauvin.
Gauvin then tied the score at 2-2 as she plated pinch runner
Erin Griffin (Lowell, MA) in the top of the sixth.
Endicott rallied for five runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a two-run home run by sophomore third baseman
Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, CT).

Jenna Bortolotti (Milford, CT) pitched her third complete game of the playoffs, allowing two runs on seven hits with no walks while striking out one batter.
