BEVERLY, Mass. – Senior forward
Colleen Pepin (Fairhaven, MA) scored a pair of goals to lead Endicott to a 2-0 victory over Western New England in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both squads on Saturday (Sept. 10) afternoon at Endicott Stadium.
Pepin notched her first of the day at 29:47 to give the home team a 1-0 edge heading into the half.
The Gulls held a 9-1 advantage in shots during the opening stanza.
Western New England had its best chance of the afternoon to equalize mid way through the second-half as freshman forward
Tayler Mazurski (Wolcott, CT) fired a shot that was blocked by diving sophomore goalkeeper
Natalie Wyrsch (Dover, NH).
Pepin then gave Endicott an insurance tally in the 72nd minute to secure the victory.
Despite being outshot 20-6 in the contest; the Golden Bears managed to put five of their shots on target.
Wyrsch turned away five shots to pick up the win in net.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Victoria Trezise (Islip, NY) kept the Golden Bears close by making eight saves in the contest.
The Golden Bears return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 14) as they host Mount Saint Mary's (NY) in a non-conference contest scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
