WENHAM, Mass. – The Western New England women's soccer team fell in a close 2-0 match to Gordon on Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) outing.

After several chances for each side, it was Gordon sophomore Kendra Woudenburg (Whitinsville, MA) who put the home team up 1-0 as she scored in the 26th minute on an assist from junior Caitlin Nedde (Colchester, VT).

Western New England had its best opportunity to equalize in the second half, when sophomore midfielder Amanda Waluszko (Pittsfield, MA) fired a shot off the crossbar.

The Scots grabbed an insurance goal in the 90th minute to seal things up; as sophomore Angela Munoz (East Stroudsberg, PA) played in a corner kick to freshman Hannah Midwinter (Barkhamsted, CT) who set up senior Liz Cheesman (Winsolw, ME) for the goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kari Christensen (Standish, ME) recorded seven saves to preserve the win in net.

Western New England sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Trezise (Islip, NY) made eight saves in the loss.

The Golden Bears return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 20) as they host Mount Holyoke in a non-league match at 4:00 p.m.
