SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Senior forward
Shara Robertson (Kwazulu Natal, South Africa) scored two goals, including the 50th of her career, to lead Mount Holyoke to a 5-0 victory over Western New England in a non-conference field hockey contest Tuesday evening (Sept. 20) at the Turf Field.
Sophomore forward
Stephanie Slysz (Hatfield, MA) added a goal and two assists as the Lyons improved to 4-1.
Robertson opened the scoring just 2:08 into the contest with an assist from Slysz who then made it a 2-0 game at the 15:01 mark.
Freshman midfielder
Kirsten Kilburn (North Branford, CT) upped the margin to 3-0 with an unassisted goal 36:39 into the game. Freshman forward
Christina Ianni (Wilmington,DE) then scored at 45:16 with an assist from Slysz before Robertson added her final goal with 1:52 left in the contest.
Mount Holyoke had a commanding 30-8 advantage in shots.
Western New England junior goalie
Katy Hall (Pawtucket, RI) played well in defeat compiling 11 saves.
Senior
Katie Gibson (Charlotte, NC) made three saves for her first shutout of the season and 13th of her career. Kilburn and junior
Stephanie Pascual (Lawrence, MA) each recorded a defensive save.
Western New England falls to 2-5 after having a two-game win streak ended.
