SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England men's soccer kicked off Homecoming by scoring a pair of second half goals to defeat Salve Regina 2-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match on Saturday (Sept. 24) at Suprenant Field.
The Golden Bears improve to 7-2-1 (2-0 CCC); while the Seahawks fall to 4-3-1 (1-1-1 CCC).
The Seahawks jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as senior midfielder
Nicodemo Camarda (Burlington, NJ) headed in a long throw that was sent into the box by senior midfielder
Sean McAllister (North Arlington, NJ).
Western New England leveled the score at 1-1 in the 68th minute on a goal from senior forward
Austin Santolini (Agawam, MA) that was assisted by junior defender
Bobby Jameson (Northbridge, MA).
In the 79th minute senior
Corey Howard (Hopedale, MA) notched the game-winner as he was set up by sophomore forwards
Ryan Williams (Brewster, NY) and
Jake Bartik (East Longmeadow, MA).
The Golden Bears held a 24-10 advantage in shots with an 11-3 edge in shots on target. They also managed a decisive 15-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Domenick Villano (Bronxville, NY) made two saves to pick up the win between the pipes.
Salve Regina freshman goalkeeper
Kyle Kureczka (Berlin, CT) turned away seven shots in the contest.
Western New England returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 28) to host CCC rival Nichols at 4:00 p.m. Salve Regina will host WPI in a non-conference contest on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
