PURCHASE, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Amanda DeChent (Putnam Valley, NY) scored three goals to lead Manhattanville to a 4-1 victory over Western New England in a non-conference field hockey game Wednesday evening (Sept. 28).

This was the fourth consecutive victory for the Valiants who are now 7-1. The Golden Bears drop to 2-8 after suffering their fourth straight loss.

Sophomore forward Alyssa Tourdot (Blue Bell, PA) gave the hosts a quick 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the game. DeChent made it 2-0 at the 2:39 mark with an assist from Tourdot and scored her second goal at 8:52 as Manhattanville took a 3-0 lead at halftime. Senior midfielder Alyssa Coughlan (Rye, NY) had the assist on the third goal.

DeChent tallied her final score 2:37 into the second half and the Valiants kept WNE off the board until sophomore midfielder Jaynie Mueller (Colorado Springs, CO) netted her team best fifth goal of the season with 4:12 remaining to avoid the shutout.

Manhattanville had a commanding 26-7 advantage in shots and 11-4 edge in penalty corners.
