		DUDLEY, Mass.  – A pair of goals in the final eight minutes of the game lifted the Western New England field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Nichols in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game at Vendetti Field on Friday (Sept. 30) evening.
 
 
The Golden Bears improve to 3-8 (2-1 CCC); the Bison fall to 5-3 (1-1 CCC).
Sophomore midfielder 
Alyssa Chamberlain (Charlton, MA) gave WNE a 1-0 lead as she scored 19 minutes into the game.
The Bison wasted little time in finding an equalizer as senior forward 
Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, MA) deflected a shot from junior forward 
Barbara Roy (Springfield, MA) from the top of the circle just 36 seconds later.
After heading into the break deadlocked at one apiece, Nichols took a 2-1 lead early in the second half on a breakaway goal by freshman forward 
Avery Orszulak (Springfield, MA).
WNE tied the score at 2-2 as sophomore midfielder
 Jaynie Mueller (Colorado Springs, CO) converted a penalty stroke at 61:21.
Less than six minutes later, Chamberlain tallied the game-winner on her second goal of the evening.
Western New England junior goalkeeper 
Kaitlyn Hall (Pawtucket, RI) made six salves and allowed two goals in 49 minutes of action. Freshman goalkeeper 
Emily Mastrapaolo (Cazenovia, NY) came on in relief to earn her first career win with one save in the final 21 minutes.
Freshman goalie 
Molly Melanson (Simsbury, CT) made one save for the Bison.
Western New England will host Wheelock on Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game.
