Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY) had a goal and assist
as the Western New England men's soccer team posted a 4-1 victory over Wheaton in a non-conference match Wednesday (Sept. 7) at Suprenant Field.

Erin Sullivan's team is now 3-1 while the Lyons remain winless at 0-2-1.
The Golden Bears started fast when senior midfielder
Corey Howard (Hopedale, MA) scored his first goal of the season just 1:58 into the contest with an assist from Fitzpatrick.
Senior midfielder
Eric Marcelino (Farmington, CT) then notched his initial goal of the year in the 16th minute. Sophomore defender
Jon Axton (Chicopee, MA) gained the assist.
WNE upped its margin to 3-0 when Fitzpatrick fired home a shot in the 31st minute as junior midfielder
Shawn DaCruz (Ludlow, MA) had the assist. It was the second goal of the year for Fitzpatrick.
Wheaton finally got on the board when freshman forward
Travis Blair (Hastings, NY) netted his second score of the season with an assist from junior defender
David Turina (North Yarmouth, ME) in the 35th minute.
Sophomore forward
Jake Bartnik (East Longmeadow, MA) continued his fine play with his team best fourth goal of the year in the 69th minute to complete the scoring. Senior forward
Austin Santolini (Agawam, MA) was credited with the assist.
The shots were close with Western New England having a slight 14-13 edge although the Lyons had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Domenick Villano (Bronxville, NY) compiled four saves in his first start of the year. Freshman
Devin Delfino (Bourne, MA) made three stops for the visitors.
