MILTON, Mass.--The Western New England University women's tennis team's run in the postseason came to an end on Thursday as the Golden Bears fell at Curry College, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The fourth-seeded Colonels (9-5 overall) move on to Wednesday's semifinals at No. 1 Nichols (11-4), while No. 5 Western New England falls to 4-8.
The Golden Bears will play at St. Joseph's (Conn.) on Saturday at noon to signal the conclusion of their fall season.
Curry claimed all three doubles points and needed victories in two singles matches to secure a 5-0 victory. The three other singles matches did not finish because the outcome of the team result had already been decided.
Alysha Lesieur, a senior, had a bright spot on the Western New England side as she took the first set, 6-3, from her No. 3 singles opponent, after losing in straight sets to a Curry player during the regular season. However, today's match wasn't finished.
