SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Springfield College women's tennis team defeated its counterparts from Western New England University, 9-0, in a non-conference match this afternoon under a sunny sky at the newly-renovated Appleton Courts. With the victory, SC is now 2-1; the Golden Bears fall to 2-5.
At No. 2 doubles, Western New England senior
Alysha Lesieur and junior
Kelsey Grode gave senior Vanessa Senecal and junior Sydney Streimer all they could handle before falling just short, 8-6.
In singles play, the Pride won all six competitions in straight sets. The Golden Bears'
Valerie Conway, a sophomore, had a tussle with senior Siana Green in a 6-3, 6-4 loss.
Springfield freshman Melanie Thulin won her first collegiate match at No. 5 singles by a 6-1, 6-0 tally, defeating Michelle Magliulo.
