MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--Cabell Maddux scored the only goal of the game in the second half to lift Wesleyan University to a 1-0 victory Tuesday over visiting Western New England University in non-conference men's soccer action. The hosts--regionally ranked sixth in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America--improve to 4-1-2, while the Golden Bears drop to 4-5-1.
In the 52nd minute, Daniel Issroff started the scoring play for Wesleyan with a short corner pass to Brandon Sousa to the left of the box, whose left-footed serve went to the head of Maddux and his header traveled all the way across the goal and just inside the left post.
Western New England's best scoring opportunity came in the 43rd minute when
Mike Wysocki sent a hard shot from 18 yards out that just missed the right goal post.
Both teams posted four shots during a scoreless first half, but Wesleyan dominated the second with a 12-2 differential.

Domenick Villano picked up five saves in the contest, while his WU counterpart Adam Purdy needed just one save to post his fourth shutout of the year and 28th of his four-year career.
