Box Score Boxscore

WESTFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University field hockey stormed back from a 2-0 first-half deficit to tie the game at 2-all against host Westfield State on Wednesday evening only to see the comeback spoiled by Ali Feldman's game-winner with 39 seconds left to lift the Owls to a 3-2 non-conference victory at Alumni Field.

The Golden Bears fall to 0-2 while Westfield State was playing in its season opener.

"I'm proud of the way the team played tonight. It was a very frustrating way to lose after having come back from two-goals down. (But) We played a strong second half," Western New England coach Sarah Kelly said after the game. "Our players made some adjustments, went on the attack and created more scoring opportunities.

"...As a whole, I am pleased with the progess we are making."

Lindsay Lalonde's blast from long range and off a WSU defender into the goal in the 57th minute brought WNE even at 2-2. It was her first goal of the season.

Sarah Pliszka and Kelly Kinney staked Westfield State to a two-goal lead in the 10th and 25 minutes, respectively. Liz Hall assisted on both plays.

Trailing 2-0, Western New England got on the scoreboard in the 49th minute when Lalonde assisted on Caitlin Foster's first goal.
