NORTON, Mass.--Chris Bruton and
Ryan Williams scored their first goals of the season at Wheaton College on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Western New England University men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Lyons in non-conference action at Keefe Field. The visiting Golden Bears drop to 1-2 while Wheaton remains unbeaten at 3-0.
Bruton put the Golden Bears on the scoreboard in the 13th minute with a header past the goalkeeper, taking a pass from
Jon Axton.
Marlon Ramalho tied the score for the Lyons with his second goal on the season 12 minutes later as the teams battled to a 1-1 tie going into halftime.
Moments after the second half began, Kevin Gil gave Wheaton a 2-1 in the 49th minute before Williams knotted the game at 2-all with an unassisted goal four minutes later.
Travis Blair recorded a game-winning goal for the second consecutive match when he took a feed from Will Nesbitt in the 65th minute and the Lyons hung on for the victory.
The Golden Bears held slight advantages in shots (18-15) and corner kicks. Both teams committed 12 fouls on a rain-soaked field.
