Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. - The Western New England University men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Salve Regina squad on Thursday night, and lost to the host Seahawks, 87-54, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest at the Rodgers Recreation Center. The Golden Bears fall to 4-8 overall, including 3-3 in the CCC, while Salve Regina improves to 7-5 and 3-2 in the league.

The Seahawks made 34 of 59 field goal attempts for 58 percent and employed a balanced offense that saw four scorers in double figures, including a game-high 29 points from Isiah Pringle. Patrick Dinneen added 14 points, Joshua Hohlfelder scored 12 and Brenden Fowler had 10.

Senior co-captain Damon Alston and junior Dennis Rinaldi scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, to pace the Golden Bears, who shot 32 percent from the floor.

Pringle scored SRU's first eight points to stake the Seahawks to an early 8-3 lead before Western New England eventually came back to go up 15-13 on a James Hock jumper and free throw on back-to-back possessions at the midpoint of the first half. That would be the last time the Golden Bears led in the contest.

Dinneen scored four straight points to ignite a 12-2 run as SRU regained the lead for good at 25-17.

The Seahawks led 45-31 at halftime.

Rinaldi had six rebounds as the Golden Bears were outrebounded, 41-29. Junior Ryan Mickiewicz, sophomore Musa Elsir and freshman Zack Askew contributed four rebounds apiece. Salve Regina's Jeff Bielefeld led all players with 11 rebounds, Hohlfelder grabbed eight, Fowler had six and Dinneen, five.
