Western New England Shut Out by Wentworth at home, 2-0; 7-Game Unbeaten Streak Snapped

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Wentworth scored two goals in the second half to take a 2-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer victory over Western New England on Saturday at Suprenant Field. The visiting Leopards improve to 5-6-2 overall and 3-2 in the CCC, while the Golden Bears fall to 8-4-2 and 2-2-1 in the conference after seeing their seven-game unbeaten streak snapped.

The teams played to a scoreless first half as both offenses struggled. Wentworth had four shots to two for WNE. Golden Bears sophomore goalie Briana Kubik made three of her five saves in the game in the first 45 minutes to keep the Leopards off the board.

Wentworth, however, finally broke through in the 62nd minute on Olivia Moore's 11th goal of the season. Amanda Weinberger added an insurance goal 20 minutes later on an assist by Moore.

Freshman Brionna Voight and sophomore Alicia Lewis tried to generate some offense for the Golden Bears with three shots apiece.

Nicole Leahey posted four saves to earn the shutout for the Leopards.

Western New England returns to action out-of-conference at 4 p.m. Wednesday at UMass-Boston
