Jake Bartnik and
Ryan Williams teamed up for the lone goal of the contest in the second half as regionally-ranked Western New England prevailed over Curry, 1-0, in a quarterfinal match-up of the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament at Suprenant Field on Saturday. The No. 2-seeded host Golden Bears improve to 13-4-3 after their ninth straight game without a loss versus CCC opposition, while the No. 7 Colonels end their season at 7-8-4.
The game was scoreless until the 48th minute when Bartnik received a pass from Williams after a failed clear by the Curry defense and he finished off the play with a shot to the lower left-corner of the net. It was Bartnik's team-leading 10th goal of the season while Williams posted his team-best ninth assist to extend a career high.

Domenick Villano made six saves to earn his ninth shutout of the season and 10th overall for the Golden Bears.
Nick Barber had seven stops and the Colonel defense had three team saves to keep WNE from getting a second goal.
Western New England enjoyed advantages in shots (21-13), shots on goal (11-6) and corner kicks (9-2). The Golden Bears, who outshot Curry 16-3 in the first half, kept pressure on the Colonels defense with six offsides.
Western New England will host #3 seed Nichols at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the CCC Semifinals.
