WENHAM, Mass.--Jessica Castelline scored the eventual game-winning goal with 8 minutes and 13 seconds remaining and then host Gordon College hung on for a 14-13 Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse win Wednesday over Western New England University at the Brigham Complex. The Golden Bears fall to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the CCC, while the Fighting Scots improve to 5-1 and 1-1.

Kaitlynn Stevens led Western New England with four goals each, while sophomore midfielder
Jessica Scannapieco matched them with four points on three goals and an assist, plus a game-high seven draw controls.
But Castelline's 17th goal of the season, unassisted, gave Gordon a 14-12 lead until Stevens netted her team-leading 26th tally to cut it down to one with 2:41 left. The Scots were able to gain control and held onto the last possession to run out the clock.
Castelline finished with a game-best seven points on six goals and an assist, and Anna Blomberg added six goals, seven ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Gordon outshot Western New England, 30-23, and bested the Golden Bears on the ground with a 20-9 ground balls margin.
Danielle Maguire made six saves to pick up the win while sophomore
Emily Castleman had eight in the WNE goal.
Western New England had leads of 4-0 after the opening 5:29 and 8-7 at halftime.
Gordon scored four of the first six goals to begin the second half to take its first lead at 11-10 with 17:25 on the clock.
Graduate student
Megan Doyle and Scannapieco sandwiched goals around one by Blomberg to bring WNE back to a 12-12 tie. But, Stephanie Fitzgerald put the Fighting Scots ahead for good at 9:55 before Castelline's insurance marker.
