Offense Cannot Get on Track in 2-0 Loss at Springfield in Crosstown Battle

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University women's soccer squad suffered a 2-0 setback Tuesday at Springfield College in a non-conference match-up of crosstown schools.

The Golden Bears, who fall to 3-2 on the season, couldn't generate much offense with just two shots--none on frame.

Springfield (2-1) struck first, scoring just 9 minutes and 59 seconds into the first half on a goal by Nina Vital. The Pride made it 2-0 in the 25th minute on a perfectly placed shot by Nicole Fowler from the left side.

Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Kubik returned to the WNE starting lineup after missing the Plymouth State game, making eight saves.

Western New England will travel to Gordon in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener on Saturday for a noon start. Springfield will host UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
