WESTFIELD, Mass.--Western New England committed six turnovers against Westfield State on Friday that contributed to a 33-7 loss at the hand of the Owls at Alumni Field. With the win, host Westfield reclaims the Presidents' Cup trophy for the first time 2009 and evens its record at 1-1. The Golden Bears fall to 0-2 on the season.
After the teams played to a scoreless first quarter, WNE drove deep into Owls territory until Nick Adams intercepted a pass at his own 11-yard line and raced the other way for an 89-yard touchdown return--four shy of a school record--for a 6-0 lead at the 11:27 mark of the second.

Kevin Cook was a bright spot on the WNE offense as he led the team with 76 yards rushing.
Freshman
Terrence N`Dabian accounted for the Golden Bears' lone touchdown on an 84-yard kickoff return with 4:35 to go in the game, snapping a run of 33 unanswered points for the Owls who scored 30 points off five WNE turnovers.
Michael Mercadante led Westfield with 140 yards on the ground and a 2-yard TD plunge that made it 26-0 in the fourth.
Westfield had a 321-214 lead in total yards and a decided amount of possession time, 38:54 to 21:06.

Nathan Fleming had 11 and 10 tackles, respectively, for WNE. Greg Sheridan paced the Owls defense with nine stops.
