Western New England Drops Pair to NESCAC Foes in Williamstown

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Western New England University women's volleyball team had its hands full on Saturday against a pair of New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponents at the Williams College triangular, falling to Bowdoin College 25-21, 25-18, 33-31 and then to the host Ephs 25-17, 25-12, 25-20.

After a school-record 13-match win streak dating to last season snapped at Tufts on Wednesday, the Golden Bears (10-3 overall) have now lost three-straight for the first time since a four-match stretch from Oct. 14 to 18, 2011.

Versus the Polar Bears, WNE hit a season-low .068 attack percentage.

Senior Devyn Frank led the Golden Bears with nine kills while hitting .333, followed by seven kills from senior Maureen Pollet.

Defensively, Kasey Cameron tried to keep WNE in the match by posting a season-tying and match-best 20 digs. Freshman setter Jessica Sincero (15 assists) and sophomore setter Rachel Meachem (13 assists) contributed a career-high 18 and 10 digs, respectively.

Emese Gaal led Bowdoin's (8-4 overall) offense with 12 kills, Katie Doherty was the dig leader at 16, and Quincy Leech had 26 assists.

Frank added eight more kills in the Williams match, and Pollet spiked six to go along with a .455 attack efficiency. The latter also paced the Golden Bears with three total blocks. Junior Grace Kucharski topped all players with 18 digs.

Tori Jasuta led the Ephs (11-1) with 14 kills, .323 hitting and 14 digs, while setter Ryan Farley picked apart the WNE defense by finding her open hitters for 34 assists.

Williams outhit WNE .320 to .109 and had almost twice as many kills (43) than the visitors (24).
