Brionna Voight Nets Second Game-Winner in a Row to Lift Golden Bears Past Bison, 1-0

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Freshman Brionna Voight scored the only goal the Western New England defense would need on Saturday in a 1-0 victory over visiting Nichols in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer action at Suprenant Field. The Golden Bears improve to 6-3-1 overall, including 1-1-1 in the CCC, while the Bison dip to 5-6 on the season and remain winless in the conference at 0-3.

The Golden Bears' defense led by senior co-captain Amanda Waluszko and sophomores Erica Parlavecchio, Danielle Savoie, Jessica Burke yielded just three shots and kept the Bison out of the goal area the whole afternoon. Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Kubik had to make just one save to post her fourth shutout of the season--already equaling last year's total with nine contests still to be played on the schedule.

In the 11th minute, Voight deposited her team-best sixth goal on a feed from junior Bonnie Bousquet.

Erica Antonison led Nichols with two shots, and goalie Sarah Whitestone made seven saves to help keep NC close while facing 19 WNE shots.
