Tim Murray's Lone Goal of the Game Lifts Golden Bears Past Visiting Wheaton, 1-0

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Newcomer Tim Murray scored an early goal and the Western New England defense made that stand up throughout the match in a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer victory Wednesday over previously undefeated Wheaton at Suprenant Field. Both teams now stand at 2-1 on the season.

Murray, a junior midfielder, headed home the deciding goal in the 18th minute on an assist by Ryan Williams.

The Golden Bears kicked off the game with a strong offensive attack, moving the ball well on both sides of the field. They worked the ball well into the strikers, which led to five quality shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Domenick Villano (2 saves) and his defense did the rest, stopping every offensive possession the Lyons had.

Noah Kossoff fired two shots on goal for Wheaton, and Matt Dickey came up with four saves.
